Interesting facts about garnets

Garnets are very common worldwide. They come in many colors. What determines the value of a garnet is its size and clarity. Small garnets with few inclusions are often offered at a low price. However, if the garnet is 3 carats or larger, it costs many times more and is often more expensive than well-known gemstones of the same size. Rhodolites, spessartites, pyrope, almandine, etc. in top quality of 3 carats or more are also very rarely offered. The rarest and most valuable garnets are Tsavorite (green garnet) and green Demantoid. Both stones are highly sought after and, apart from the price, very difficult to obtain.
